The Spice Girls: They're Back!!!!

It seems its like the Spice Girls reunion is taking the world by storm, especially in the UK. I believe their London concert sold out in a matter of seocnds and they are also the faces for Tesco's (a UK supermarket) for their holiday TV Ads. Take a look.

What I like about these Ads is that it is not just splashing the celebrity amongst the product and running around naked in skimpy outfits. These Ads actually show the Spice Girls using the product and interacting with them, like a normal person would do. There is also a little storyline tied into the Ads which is unusually for celebrities featured in Ads, usually advertisers just show some sexy picture of the celeb with the product and all it advertising. This, I think has had a little more creativity and thought put into it.

Project Runway

I must say Project Runway is one of the few reality shows that has an ounce of creativity connected to it. The contestants actually have to come up with designs, pick fabric, sew, and create a garment of clothing. I have seen some fabulous pieces created from that show, and most of the contestants are truely talented. It made me think a lot of project runway when my group was building our machine. We had to come up with the designs, then build the machine, choose materials, colors etc and function of the machine. I think Project Runway is a true form of creativity.

Marie Osmond: WTF????

It truely pisses me off that fat ass Marie Osmond got to the Finals of Dancing with the Stars, instead of Jennie Garth. I still cant quite get my head around it. She was awful the entire season. I dont understand why America would vote for a fat ass in a leotard? I am pleased that Helio and Julianne won, but I still cant get over Marie Osmonds lasting power. I blame Oprah. She had Marie Osmond and her entire incestual family on her show a couple of weeks ago, and we all know Oprah rules the Universe. Or maybe it was a symplathy vote that kept her in after her father past away a few weeks ago. Whatever the reason was, America made the wrong decision. After all she was the only final 4 not to get a perfect score. My heart goes out to Jennie Garth who really put her all in throughout the show and deserved to be in the finals. :( America is weird.

Ikea Commercial

I love this commercial for Ikea, with the tag line "Home is the most important place in the world". Not once do we see a product for Ikea and not only that it gives the consumer the idea that no matter what kind of house they live in, no matter how much money they have, wherever they live they can make their house a home with products from Ikea. It also gives off a great message, because no matter where you like, there really is no place live home.

Leona Lewis

This is a little present from across the pond. Leona Lewis was the winner of last year's X factor in the UK (The British version of American Idol). And in my opinion one of the best talents to come out of the one of these reality shows. And to top that she has actually been sucessful with her music career, unlike most of the people to come out of American Idol. In addition she is gorgeous, which is hard to say for many of the people that came from American Idol, they are just plain ugly or skanky, which Leona is neither. In the video clip ablove she sings her latest hit single "bleeding love" which I love. She kind of reminds me of a young Whitney Houston pre-drugs days. So this blog entry might break open the doors to success in the U.S or if not just a little taste of what is happening music-wise in the U.K. A lot less gangster rap (which I think is great).

So everyone go add this song to your Ipod playlists!!!

46 Things to do in an Elevator

Ever wonder what to do in an elevator...well problem solved. Here are 46 things you can do in an elevator.

1. Make race car noises when anyone gets on or off.

2.Blow your nose and offer to show the contents of your kleenex to other passengers.

3.Grimace painfully while smacking your forehead and muttering: "Shut up, dammit, all of you just shut UP!"

4.Whistle the first seven notes of "It's a Small World" incessantly.

5.Sell Girl Scout cookies.

6.On a long ride, sway side to side at the natural frequency of the elevator.

7.Shave.

8.Crack open your briefcase or purse, and while peering inside ask: "Got enough air in there?"

9.Offer name tags to everyone getting on the elevator. Wear yours upside- down.

10.Stand silent and motionless in the corner, facing the wall, without getting off.

11.When arriving at your floor, grunt and strain to yank the doors open, then act embarrassed when they open by themselves.

12.Lean over to another passenger and whisper: "Noogie patrol coming!"

13.Greet everyone getting on the elevator with a warm handshake and ask them to call you Admiral.

14.On the highest floor, hold the door open and demand that it stay open until you hear the penny you dropped down the shaft go "plink" at the bottom.

15.Do Tai Chi exercises.

16.Stare, grinning, at another passenger for a while, and then announce: "I've got new socks on!"

17.When at least 8 people have boarded, moan from the back: "Oh, not now, damn motion sickness!"

18.Give religious tracts to each passenger.

19.Meow occassionally.

20.Bet the other passengers you can fit a quarter in your nose.

21.Frown and mutter "gotta go, gotta go" then sigh and say "oops!"

22.Show other passengers a wound and ask if it looks infected.

23.Sing "Mary had a little lamb" while continually pushing buttons.

24.Holler "Chutes away!" whenever the elevator descends.

25.Walk on with a cooler that says "human head" on the side.

26.Stare at another passenger for a while, then announce "You're one of THEM!" and move to the far corner of the elevator.

27.Leave a box between the doors.

28.Ask each passenger getting on if you can push the button for them.

29.Wear a puppet on your hand and talk to other passengers "through" it.

30.Start a sing-along.

31.When the elevator is silent, look around and ask "is that your beeper?"

32.Play the harmonica.

33.Shadow box.

34.Say "Ding!" at each floor.

35.Lean against the button panel.

36.Say "I wonder what all these do" and push the red buttons.

37.Listen to the elevator walls with a stethoscope.

Blackout

So I guess she did it again. Britney managed to hit the top of the charts with her latest CD "Blackout". This just goes to show that none of this publicity can hurt her, it is just making her more money. I must say I did buy the CD and it is really good, one of Brits best in fact. Her sound on the CD is very dance/electro pop and has a track with Timbaland on it, which of course makes any artist a hit. I particularly like "Radar", "Piece of Me" and "Toy Soldier". So I guess she is doing something right in her life!

The Evolution of the Spice Girls

While Im on the topic of the Spice Girls. Has anyone seen their new video? I must say the song is a bit blah and not really reflective of the whole girl power image they had before. However it is the Spice Girls and many may not want to admit it, but they are music legends and their new single will undoubtedly do well. This song kind of reminds me of their 1999 single "Goodbye" in response to Geri (Ginger Spice's) departure from the group.

I find it amazing how much they have all changed since their early days and their first hit Wannabe. It just goes to show how much a stylist, makeup artist etc can really change a person. And OMG can you please check out Ginger spice's abs ( she just had a baby and looks amazing) Britney Spears take note! I did question why she was strutting around in a bra for the video, but hey if my stomach looked like that after I jsut had a baby I would probably flaunt my six pack too. Maybe Geri should change her nake to sporty spice.

Ok listen up Britney. These are some of the things your kids might end up doing if you carry on behaving the way you have. Check out some of these kids...

Pay Phone? Where are they?

Has anyone noticed that there are no pay phones in America??? In London red pay phone boxes are everywhere on the high streets. Where are they here? I know its 2007 and everyone has a cell phone, but sometimes life doesnt always going according to plan. We can forget our cell phone at home, loose cell signal, get stranded...etc. I think it is dangerous not to have phones available on public streets. I think this move is ignorant and risky.

Fosse, Fosse, Fosse

This semester I took a class called "The Evolution of American Musical Theatre". For our final project we have to do a research paper on a particular musical. I chose "Chicago" directed and choreographed by Bob Fosse. Over the past few weeks I have been doing extensive research on the life on Fosse and his works. I found out through my research that "Chicago" at the time of its release in 1975 was not well received. Among many things, one of the main reasons why it wasnt well recieved by the public was because it was ahead of its time. When it was revived in 1997 it was a huge hit and the 2002 movie directed by Rob Marshall won an Academy Award for "Best Film".

This made me wonder if artist like Fosse, who was clearly an asset to the theatre industry knew that their ideas were too advanced for their time period. I wonder if Fosse knew that 30 years afetr he created "Chicago" that it would be a hit. After all many artists and their works arent really truely recognised and appreciated until after they die. If so, this just shows the creative genius that was Bob Fosse. To be able to create something and have it be sucessful so many years after it first was made, to me, shows real creativity.

Just some food for thought on my part.
